Magical Aspens that dapple sidewalks, catch the light and flicker, winking yellow in the wind. The high country in the Southwest is always an amazing place to find yourself, but my favorite time of year is fall. Maybe because I was born in September, but the shorter days and cooler breath of the wind as the days turn from summer, are like a home coming to me. I feel my spirit loosen, and the imaginary wings on my back unfurl to catch a ride on a western wind. Seeing Aspens turn to their golden yellow splendor has the same effect. Something inside me wants to stand up and cheer, and then cry with the beauty of those yellow bands of gold covering the mountains.
