I started these four paintings as plein air sketches using a blind contour drawing technique. I finished working on them in my studio. Working in the studio allows me to percolate the memories of a scene with my emotions so I am painting how I feel rather than how it looked. I visited favorite spots in Richmond for each of them, and wanted to capture my happy memories of living there.
