ast June I spent some time in Torrey Pines Nature Reserve, sketching and taking photos and hiking along the bluffs above the ocean. Such a spectacular place! It is thrilling to see the many faces of erosion that the wind and rain carve into the sandstone hills. I love the woodsy scent of sage and the spice bush and the tart aroma of the lemonade berry. I wanted to balance the colors in the sage, and lavenders by offsetting them with the burgundys and creams of the sandstone cliffs.
